Adventures in Space

Space was one of the most exciting topics of our Science lessons with Year 2 students.

Not only did they learn about our Solar System and the planets it consists of, they also actively recreated the planets’ order and the movement of Earth and its Moon.  After learning interesting facts about the Solar System, the students made their very own “Solar System booklet” to take home.

Some students kept a “Moon diary” for a whole month, after learning about the moon phases, and presented to us.  They also learned about  the star formations we call constellations and they created “constellations artwork” in groups.

For the final part of the “Space” topic, the Year 2 students explored life in space as scientists (astronauts). Last but not least, they imagined that life exists in outer space, and they wrote letters to “Space citizens” about our own beautiful planet!

Ending this topic left us hopeful that science and imagination can take us to “infinity… and beyond”.
